The Purpose behind the Drive

Friends,
I have been a real estate consultant for
twelve years in the South King and
Every great cause has a story behind the
passion that lights the Fire Within. I have one. I lost my mother and my best
friend Audrey O’Steen to a terrible cancer, a six day
diagnosis and subsequent passing traumatized out a whole family and rendered me
motionless for what felt like an eternity. When I awoke from within, I swore
that if I could change the world, I would, make sure no other families would
have to feel the pain we did. This inspired me to do what I could for cancer
research. In 2005 I walked the three day breast cancer
fundraiser. I felt deeply that my
mother’s heart would want me to drive for younger lives and make sure the
little ones would be there to build and inspire the world with all their love
and innocence. Which brings us to the Purpose Driven Poker
Run for Cancer Research. In the infancy period, I researched and
requested input from families that could offer experiences and gifts to help me
with this journey to help and to designate a worthy foundation. I met a great
person who happened to be a part of a local band” The Chucks” who shared her experience
with Mary Bridge Children’s Cancer Foundation and the positive impact this
foundation had on her son and family. Today, this young man
is thriving and performs in his own band as well.
This is where my heart felt
our efforts should be focused. The outreach and camaraderie
form the community has been overwhelming but very inspiring.
My goal was to bring together other realtors
and business professionals to have some fun and to benefit children who in
reality are OUR FUTURE. This has grown to such a diversified group and it
brings a great satisfaction to know that others have a deep desire to help
children. Our goal is to raise $25,000 or better for this foundation, our event
is Purpose Driven not by one but by many who care. In memory
of my Mom, Audrey O’Steen.
